Gluten Free Travel in Central America
Central America consists of the seven countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. It’s population is only about 40,000 people.
Traditionally food from Central America doesn’t contain wheat or gluten, so eating gluten free in Central America is not that difficult. The climate in Central America is not suitable for growing wheat as wheat doesn’t grow well where the temperature rises above about 32 degrees. Since traditionally wheat was not available in Central America, most food is gluten free. Most people in Central America will not even know what the term gluten free means.
