THE RUNNERS N THE HUNTERS

the sky looked clear with no clouds and the night was brightened up by the beautiful stars .... I untied the fishing net on my back and set it down then stripped it open .....
I had six big fishes .... now I had make fire ....
I went some distance off the mouth open roof of the the cave and found dry grass then gathered a few sticks for fire wood and set my self up for setting a fire ....
I got a couple of stones and smashed them together...
after trying many times I finally made a fire form the grass I put small sticks of fire woods on the grass and then bigger sticks ...
I piassed three fishes on a stick and held them above the fire with other sticks poles on the two sides of the fire then lied on my back facing the sky ....
i now remembered the death of Evans and how Salim had shoot him
the tears rolled once again in my eyes ...
I felt lonely n hurt once again I missed Maddie ...
I miss having her by my side and arguing with her ...in fact I missed her lot ...
I remembered the last time I saw her at the the camp before were being given our missions .....I now remembered the piece of paper that had got many of us killed ... we had been given an emergency message to deliver directly to the king .....
the prime mister had told us it was a very important message to save our kingdom,a matter of life and death and whoever got his message to the king he was to be given a government position plus a lot of land and treasure ..I thought it was a perfect opportunity for me and Maddie to start a new life ...every of us had been given a message to deliver to the king .... we were not allowed to know wat is the message and if the message seal was broken the message would be useless and the punishment was to be chased out of the royal messengers and being cut an arm .....
it had been three days off the road to deliver the message but I seem like forever and a lot had happened but here I was ....
without any news of Maddie ..

she was in fact the only reason I was still fighting ..after a lot of thoughts I got up and realised the fire was making some smoke and I could be easily found ....
so I got up and got some grass and started forcing the smoke into the woods ....
it was useless though...
the smoke would rise up in the woods but the fishes were ready to eat ....
I put off the fire and slopped down the cave .....
only young sublings of the dead hyenas had been left wondering about ....
I climbed up and slipped my self into one of the passages into the cave and lied myself down then started eating my fishes ...
they were so delicious and I was hungry ...
I ate them all and then went off to sleep .......
I woke up to the sound of the the hunters ....
they had noticed the smoke and were already above the cave ...
I could hear one of them tell his fellows how he had seen the fire I had made and how I must have slept somewhere around ...
Salim gave out the order to spread and search for my traces ..
he claimed I am one of the runners they trusted enough and could be the one with the message that they didn't want reaching the king ....
having heard all that I got out of the passage slowly and tiptoed towards the exit of the cave ...
by the time reached the exit of the cave Salim shouted out ...."he is is the cave ... I just heard him tiptoeing, do not let him escape again ."
they all come running and started shooting arrows like mad men but by then I was already out ...
I got out quickly and started the morning run .....
